Mihas, the world's largest Halal showcase, is poised for its global debut in Dubai at the Middle East Organic and Natural Product Expo, set to take place from November 18 to 20, 2024, at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Known for holding the Guinness World Record for attendance, Mihas aims to make a significant impact on the international stage by providing Malaysian exhibitors with an opportunity to tap into the expansive global halal market.
Organized by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), MIHAS's entry into Dubai marks a pivotal step in its international expansion strategy. The event will enable Malaysian businesses, particularly small and medium enterprises (SMEs), to leverage Dubai's status as a major trade hub. This strategic move is expected to facilitate the formation of new partnerships and the exploration of significant growth opportunities, propelling these businesses onto a path of sustained success.
Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz, CEO of MATRADE, emphasized that the debut of MIHAS in Dubai is not merely an event but a strategic initiative that places Malaysian products and services at the epicenter of international trade. The event highlights the potential for long-term business relationships that extend far beyond the exhibition period, fostering global market expansion for participants.
Dubbed as a landmark event, MIHAS@Dubai symbolizes a crucial moment in the global Halal ecosystem's evolution, as it will be the first time this powerhouse showcase is held outside of Malaysia. P Ravi, Director at Global Links Exhibition Organizers & Conferences, which manages the corresponding organics expo, noted that MIHAS@Dubai is set to significantly increase exhibitor numbers and is expected to bring together over 200 exhibitors, thereby doubling participation.
Additionally, Malaysia's role as the country partner for the Middle East Organic and Natural Product Expo 2024 is poised to advance the Halal and organic industries in the Middle East. This alliance will enhance certification processes, standards, investment opportunities, and knowledge transfers. For the UAE, this collaboration aligns with its vision of leading the global Halal sector, valued at US$3 trillion. By hosting MIHAS, the UAE is enhancing its legislative and technological frameworks to ensure the sustainable growth of its Halal industry.
The expo in Dubai further aims to act as a catalyst for growing the halal economy by fostering connections between the halal ecosystems of the UAE, Malaysia, and other global players. Beyond merely showcasing products, the trade fair serves as a platform to ignite long-lasting business relationships and expand market horizons, particularly benefiting SMEs. Ultimately, MIHAS@Dubai could transform temporary exhibition ties into enduring global business ties, serving the broader economy in the years to come.
