Northeast Ohio high school football fans, rejoice! Week 9 of the 2024 season delivered a thrilling array of matches across the region, showcasing the competitive spirit and talent present in our local high schools. A plethora of nail-biting games and standout performances highlighted the weekend, giving us plenty to cheer about as we edge closer to the playoffs. In the Akron City Series, Garfield secured a solid win against Ellet with a score of 20-6, while Firestone dominated Akron North in a 34-0 shutout.

Over in the Chagrin Valley Conference, the Chagrin Division witnessed Hawken's victory over Harvey 20-6, and an intense battle where Orange overcame Lutheran West 35-28. Perry's remarkable performance saw them crush West Geauga 63-7. Shifting to the Lake Division, Geneva edged past Madison 21-14, showcasing their strategic prowess. The Metro Division saw Independence triumph over Beachwood with a decisive 37-0, while Cuyahoga Heights narrowly defeated Trinity 24-21.

Wickliffe comfortably outscored Brooklyn 42-8, reflecting their consistent form. In the Valley Division, Chagrin Falls dominated Cardinal in a 43-7 game, and Kirtland bested Crestwood 37-6. Fairview and Berkshire engaged in a high-scoring contest, concluding with a 43-29 win for Fairview. The Cleveland West Conference had its share of drama with Bay narrowly claiming victory against Lakewood in overtime, 22-20. Buckeye delivered a compelling performance, shutting out Rocky River 55-0.

Normandy’s close 24-20 win over Westlake added excitement, alongside North Olmsted's 26-7 triumph over Valley Forge. The Federal League featured Massillon Perry's hard-fought 21-16 win against Green. Greater Cleveland Conference action saw Mentor overcome Strongsville 44-17, while Shaker Heights snuck past Medina with a tight 22-21 victory. In the Lake Erie League, Maple Heights obliterated Garfield Heights 54-0, and Lorain maintained their dominance over Bedford with a 32-0 win.

Clearview edged out Black River 22-14 in the Lorain County League, while Columbia impressed with a 49-14 triumph over Brookside. Firelands displayed offensive prowess against Oberlin, winning 41-6. Keystone also reigned supreme with a 40-6 victory over Wellington. The Mahoning Valley Conference, Grey Division treated fans to a thrilling matchup as Garrettsville Garfield narrowly beat Columbiana Crestview 23-22. In another intense game, Leavittsburg LaBrae defeated Ravenna Southeast 20-7.

The Metro Athletic Conference saw Norton put on an impressive display, shutting out Akron Springfield 51-0, and Cloverleaf outlasted Woodridge with a 17-0 win. Ravenna's 35-7 victory over Coventry, along with Streetsboro's commanding 49-0 win over Field, were other highlights. Elyria Catholic edged Holy Name in the North Coast Conference with a close 13-3 win, and Padua convincingly beat Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin 38-21. In the Northeast Athletic Conference, Andover Pymatuning Valley triumphed over Windham 40-8.

Fairport Harding enjoyed a 43-0 shutout against Vienna Mathews. Mogadore showcased their dominance in the Portage Trail Conference with a decisive 41-7 win against Louisville St. Thomas Aquinas. Over in the Principals Athletic Conference, Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy bested Orrville 41-14, and Manchester routed Navarre Fairless with an impressive 39-0. In Senate Athletic League action, John Hay prevailed over John F. Kennedy 35-6, with John Adams also securing a win against East Tech, 24-6.

Glenville topped John Marshall 48-6, adding another win to their impressive season. Meanwhile, the Southwestern Conference featured Avon’s commanding 42-7 win over Amherst, and Midview's 49-7 triumph over Elyria. Avon Lake narrowly edged past North Ridgeville 12-10, while Berea-Midpark overwhelmed Olmsted Falls with a 35-14 victory. The Suburban League, American Conference showcased Aurora's dominant form in a 53-3 victory over Barberton. Copley's 47-35 win over Revere, along with Highland's shutout of Cuyahoga Falls 56-0, were notable performances.

In the National Conference, Brecksville-Broadview Heights won 28-20 against Twinsburg, while North Royalton triumphed over Hudson 43-35. Nordonia defeated Stow-Munroe Falls 47-20, and Wadsworth had a nail-biting 28-27 win over Solon. The Western Reserve Conference featured Chardon's decisive 42-7 win over Eastlake North, and Mayfield's narrow escape against Riverside, 21-17. Kenston delivered a resounding victory against Willoughby South with a score of 42-0.

In nonconference play, University School defeated Dohn Community 34-0. Walsh Jesuit overcame Brunswick 38-7, while Benedictine's defense shut out Brush 39-0. Lake Catholic secured a 31-12 win against Canton Central Catholic, and Archbishop Hoban impressively beat Central York 41-7. St. Xavier topped St. Ignatius 31-19, while Lutheran East narrowly defeated Columbus St. Charles 12-10. Gilmour Academy showcased their strength against Rhodes, winning decisively 38-6.

Martins Ferry triumphed over Rootstown 35-7, and Villa Angela-St. Joseph overcame St. Vincent-St. Mary 37-13.
