Belal Muhammad has fired back at Conor McGregor, responding to the UFC star's recent comments about smashing his skull. McGregor, known for his trash talk, had expressed his desire to take on Muhammad in a since-deleted tweet, claiming, "I'd love to crush my left hook into Belal's temple and take down the triple crown. I'd do it easily and fast!" But Muhammad, who recently claimed the welterweight title after defeating Leon Edwards at UFC 304, isn't intimidated by McGregor’s bluster. Speaking out, he recalled the tweet and laughed off the notion of McGregor being a current threat in the octagon.
McGregor, addressing his own challenges, lamented his June 29th fight cancellation and expressed his disdain over Muhammad's success. "To think this bum is now a UFC champion with zero knockdowns on his resume—it’s so bad," the former double champ commented, deriding Muhammad as one of the UFC’s least profitable fighters. Yet, Muhammad remains unbothered by McGregor’s jabs, dismissing them as mere talk. "[Conor's] not going to come back. And if he does, I doubt he'll beat anyone," Muhammad said. Comparing McGregor to an older man at a bar, Muhammad ridiculed McGregor’s past glory talk.
Muhammad is certain that if they did face-off, it would be a lopsided fight. "I would literally slap him around the cage," he asserted confidently, suggesting it would be embarrassing for McGregor. "People would wonder how he was ever a double champion. The game's passed him up," Muhammad declared, implying that McGregor’s fighting days are behind him. Besides McGregor, Muhammad has also been vocal about his tensions with fighter Ilia Topuria and is eager for his first title defense at UFC 310 against the formidable Shavkat Rakhmonov.
