The injury occurred when Giménez attempted to cover second base during a steal against the New York Yankees on Wednesday, resulting in a tweak to his ankle. Consequently, he sat out Thursday’s game as the Blue Jays completed a four-game sweep of the Yankees. To accommodate Giménez’s absence, the Blue Jays have made several roster adjustments. The team retroactively placed right-hander Ryan Burr on the IL from the 60-day injured list, allowing him to return to action after battling a right shoulder issue. Burr’s recovery involved rehabilitation with Triple-A Buffalo, where he showcased impressive form, striking out 17 batters in 12 1/3 innings across 11 games and recording a 3.65 ERA.

Furthermore, outfielder Joey Loperfido was recalled from Triple-A, joining the lineup as the Blue Jays’ eighth batter in right field.
