Frank Perkins, Jr. (1932-2025) – A Life Dedicated to Family, Faith, and Sport Frank Perkins, Jr. (March 4, 1932 – August 29, 2025), affectionately known as ‘Frank,’ was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose life was marked by a deep faith, a passion for sports, and a commitment to his family. Born in Richmond, Virginia, Frank’s early years were spent in Petersburg, Virginia, where he cultivated a strong connection to his roots and developed a lifelong love for the outdoors. Growing up as an only child, he cherished the bonds with his extended family, maintaining close relationships with cousins, a testament to his enduring spirit and appreciation for community. Frank’s childhood was filled with cherished memories of hunting and fishing alongside his father and cousins in Petersburg. These experiences instilled in him a deep respect for nature and a love of outdoor pursuits. He also excelled in high school tennis, a sport he continued to play throughout his life, becoming a devoted ‘Hokie’ and a passionate supporter of Virginia Tech. His dedication to tennis wasn’t just a pastime; it was a lifelong pursuit that brought him joy and camaraderie. Following his graduation from Virginia Tech, Frank served in the Army Reserve, demonstrating his patriotism and commitment to his country. Shortly after his service, he met the love of his life, Patricia “Tish” Jones, and they were married, beginning a remarkable partnership that lasted nearly 65 years. Together, they built a family, raising two daughters while initially residing in Petersburg, Virginia, before ultimately choosing to settle in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Frank’s journey of faith began early in life, and he embraced Christianity, dedicating himself to serving his church. He progressed through various leadership roles, including usher, deacon, elder, and Bible study teacher, and even served on the school board for Westminster Academy, reflecting his strong values and commitment to education. His professional life began with a role at Burroughs computer company, sparking a lifelong fascination with technology. Later, he transitioned into property management, applying his organizational skills and dedication to his career. Beyond his professional endeavors, Frank was known for his jovial personality, his love of storytelling, and his infectious laughter. He possessed a genuine warmth and a willingness to help others, qualities that endeared him to everyone who knew him. His family remembers his twinkling eyes and his ability to bring joy to any situation. Frank’s hobbies were as diverse as his interests – from boating and water sports to camping, traveling, and attending his children’s and grandchildren’s events. He was an active member of the villagers choir at John Knox Village and enjoyed friendly competition playing ping-pong and indulging in his favorite treat: ice cream. At his core, Frank’s greatest joy stemmed from his unwavering faith and his profound love for his family, a sentiment that guided his life and shaped his legacy.

Frank is survived by his loving daughters, Robin Perkins and Cindy (Russ) Coningsby; his grandsons, Ward Coningsby, Reid (Bailee) Coningsby, and great grandsons, Hudson and Crew Coningsby; and his granddaughter, Cayla Coningsby.
